The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the arrest of four suspected bank hackers in Abuja.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, on Tuesday the suspects were apprehended on charges of conspiracy, unauthorized access to bank computer systems, and fraudulent withdrawals of depositor funds.
The suspects include Anthony Nwigwe, alleged leader of the hacking syndicate, along with Mohammed Bello, Effiong Emmanuel, and Damian Ali, managing director of Downstone Ultimate Limited as they were detained in a sting operation after the EFCC received actionable intelligence.
The suspects are accused of hacking into commercial bank databases, enabling fraudulent transfers and withdrawals through various digital platforms as they are set to face charges in court after investigations are complete.
