Ebonyi State First Lady, Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, on Wednesday has strongly condemned the recent dehumanizing treatment of two teenage girls in Ojiegbe Ngbo, Ohaukwu Local Government Area with a viral video circulating on social media shows the girls being stripped and flogged by local youths over accusations of stealing two old chickens.
In a statement through her Press Secretary, Nnenna Oshibe, the First Lady described the incident as a violation of human dignity and emphasized that every citizen, particularly young women and girls, should live without fear of abuse or violence as Nwifuru reaffirmed the commitment of the state’s administration to secure justice for the victims.
She commended State Commissioner of Police Anthonia Uche-Anya and her team for quickly arresting prime suspects Dennis Ali and Ituma Sunday. Additionally, she urged community leaders to ensure the victims receive proper care and to take preventive measures against such incidents in the future as she expressed sympathy to the affected families, reaffirming her dedication to achieving justice for all survivors of gender-based violence.
