Former Nigerian international and African Player of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, has called for the inclusion of fresh talents in the Super Eagles squad.
His remarks followed Nigeria’s unexpected 2-1 defeat to Rwanda’s Amavubi in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Monday night.
Reacting during a TV interview, Ikpeba expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance and the result.
The match marked the end of the Super Eagles’ unbeaten run in the qualifiers, a development that has drawn widespread criticism.
Ikpeba emphasized the need for greater competition within the squad and urged the coaching staff to bring in new players.
