The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has raised the alarm over the circulation of sweets suspected to contain intoxicating substances.
Speaking to journalists in Kano on Monday, the Agency’s Public Relations (ASN), Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, said the alert became necessary after reports indicated that the candies, which look like regular chocolate, may contain harmful substances that intoxicate consumers.
He urged parents to look out for sudden changes in their children’s eating habits and sleeping patterns.
The agency assured the public of its commitment to tracking down the perpetrators and keeping harmful substances out of the reach of vulnerable groups.
