Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has said that the abdication of responsibility by all tiers of government was responsible for the dwindling fortunes of education in the country.
Governor Diri who was represented by his Deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, stated this on Tuesday while flagging off the fifth batch of Primary School Teachers’ training programme at Toru-Orua in the Sagbama Local Government Area of the State.
According to Diri, achieving quality sustainable education is becoming increasingly difficult as key Stakeholders were not playing their roles well.
The Governor criticized all tiers of government for paying lip service to measures that were capable of strengthening primary education.
