FG to comply with court ruling on electoral bill

The Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami, has said his office would soon comply with the court judgement that ordered the removal of Section 84 (12) from the Electoral Act, 2022.

Malami, who disclosed this after the virtual Federal Executive Council meeting, said machinery had been set in motion for that purpose.

Recall that a Federal High Court in Umuahia had declared illegal Section 84(12) of the Act, which stipulates that all political appointees must resign before taking part in primaries.

But the National Assembly has resolved to appeal the judgment.
