NAFDAC Cautions Against Storage Of Food In Chemical Containers

National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control, NAFDAC has warned Nigerians to stop storing food items in containers used for chemicals.

Director-General of NAFDAC, Christiana Adeyeye, gave the warning during a sensitization campaign yesterday in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Adeyeye disclosed that such containers contain carcinogenic substances, which no amount of washing could remove and would have a harmful effect on human health.

The Director-General further called on market women to desist from using chemicals to quicken the ripening of fruits due to their dangerous effect on health.
