The World Health Organization set aside June 14th as a day to raise awareness on the need for safe blood, blood donation, and to celebrate blood donors.
Speaking with Boss Radio news, the Southeast, Chief Councilor of the National Blood Service Commission, NBSC, Chika Okpara, highlights the theme of this year’s celebration, ‘Donating Blood is an act of solidarity; join the efforts to save lives’.
Okpara urges the public to render humanitarian service through blood donations.
Also speaking, a health Practitioner, Ekene Ahaneku, says the celebration is to raise global awareness of the essence of safe blood.
