A bill seeking to provide for the establishment of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme has scaled second reading in the Senate.
The bill sponsored by the member representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Umar Suleiman seeks to provide a framework for the success of education financing.
According to Suleiman, the Scheme, upon its establishment, would grant interest-free loans and bursaries to eligible students at higher Institutions.
After consideration, the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, referred the bill to the Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFUND for further input.
