Thailand’s Constitutional Court has announced a new date to deliver its decision on whether Prayuth Chan-ocha can remain as Prime Minister.
The Court revealed that it will declare its decision on September 30, 2022.
The opposition brought the case in August, stating that the time Chan-ocha spent in power after leading the 2014 coup should count towards the constitutionally-set term limit.
The Prime Minister has been suspended while the court deliberates on the case, and his deputy, Prawit Wongsuwan, has taken over in a caretaker capacity.
In Thailand Prime ministers are supposed to serve no more than eight years in office.
