Court Orders INEC to Accept Akpabio as Senatorial Candidate

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to publish the name of  fomer Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio as the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Akwa Ibom North/West Senatorial District for the 2023 general election.

Delivering Judgment, the presiding Judge, Emeka Nwite, held that INEC has no reason to reject Akpabio since his name was sent to it by the APC as its Candidate.

Recall that the Electoral Body had omitted the name of Akpabio from its published lists, noting he did not participate in the Primary elections.
