The national chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, who was arrested on Wednesday in Benin, Edo State capital by operatives of Zone 5 Police headquarters, has been released on bail.
Speaking After his release around 2am on Thursday, Abure, appreciated his supporters for their solidarity,as he stated that the struggle to liberate the people does not come easy. He said his persecution, meant to destabilize the party, started after the general election in 2023.
According to Abure the state chairman, Kelly Ogbaloi, and the state youth leader were still being held and would likely be released later today.
Meanwhile,The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to condemned the “humiliating” arrest of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure.
Obi who described the act as undesirable , demeaning and unequivocally intolerable, declared that it must be condemned by any decent and civilized mind within the context of the present civic landscape in Nigeria.
