African Leaders, Heads of Govts, UN adopt Abuja Declaration in Tackling Terrorism

African leaders, along with representatives from various organizations, have adopted the Abuja Declaration to combat terrorism on the continent.
The declaration was announced at the end of the High-Level African Counter-Terrorism Meeting in Abuja, presented by Adamu Laka, the National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre.
The theme of the event, “Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism in Africa,” underscored the importance of collective action in confronting terrorism.
The declaration highlights the need for African-led approaches, regional cooperation, and capacity-building to effectively tackle the spread of terrorism and violent extremism, aligning with the AU’s goal to achieve peace and stability by 2030.
