TUC Accuses Gov Otu’s Administration of Reneging on Promise

The Trade Union Congress, TUC, in Cross River State is accusing the government of Prince Bassey Otu of failing to fulfill its promise to clear the backlog of gratuities dating back to 2013.
This comes amidst celebrations for this year’s May Day or Workers’ Day, which took place at UJ Esuene Stadium Calabar.
Chairman of TUC, Monday Ogolodom, voiced his disappointment during the Workers Day address, stating that despite promises made by the government, the payment of gratuities remains elusive.
Ogolodom further criticized the government’s handling of verification exercises, promotion delays, and ongoing bribery for promotions. He urged the government to distinguish between palliative allowances and wage awards, emphasizing the need for the latter to continue in line with federal guidelines.
As workers and pensioners await resolution, the TUC appeals to the governor to prioritize fulfilling his promises to the people of Cross River State.
