The Real Madrid midfielder ran onto Bukayo Saka’s cross to head the ball powerfully into the net.
The Three Lions failed to get a grip of the game in the second half and had to hold on to three points.
Denmark drawing 1-1 with Slovenia earlier, shoot England straight to the top of Group C.
They have a two-point cushion before Thursday’s match with Denmark in Frankfurt.
