French President, Emmanuel Macron is expected to approve the resignation of his Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, by Tuesday evening, according to reports from the French media.
The resignation follows their centrist party’s defeat in recent parliamentary elections.
However, despite stepping down, Attal will continue to lead a caretaker government, especially tasked for overseeing the upcoming Paris Olympics set to commence in just 10 days.
Following the electoral victory on 7th July by a left-wing alliance, there has been a delay in agreeing upon a successor to Attal, and the uncertainty has prompted the French President to allow the caretaker government to remain operational for some weeks.
