Vice President, Kashim Shettima has arrived in New York to represent Nigeria at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday. by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha.
According to Nkwocha, Shettima landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport in the early hours of Monday, where he was received by key officials, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.
As directed by President Bola Tinubu, the Vice President will lead Nigeria’s delegation to this year’s UNGA, where he is expected to deliver Nigeria’s national statement and participate in several high-level meetings.
The 79th session of UNGA marks a crucial milestone in the global effort to accelerate progress towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
