The Joint Action Committee of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities yesterday disclosed that the ongoing strike is a long-term battle involving even vice-chancellors, bursars and registrars.
The National President of SSANU, Mohammed Ibrahim on Wednesday in an interview with journalists stated that the university executives, including vice-chancellors, bursars, and registrars, did not receive salaries for four months.
He further revealed that the universities would remain completely shut down until the payments were made while adding that the unions reported massive compliance with the ongoing strike across all universities nationwide.
According to Ibrahim, there had been no invitation or any form of interference from the government.
Recall that JAC of SSANU and NASU embarked on an indefinite strike over its four-month withheld salary, grounding activities in all the universities nationwide.
