At least 18 people have died when an artisanal gold mine collapsed in southern Niger near the border with Nigeria.
This was disclosed by the local Mayor of Dan-Issa District, Adamou Gueraouon Monday.
According to Gueraou,the accident was sparked when artisanal wells collapsed at the Garin-Liman mine site in Maradi region,noting that rescue operations are still going on.
He,however, disclosed that seven people were hospitalized with injuries, adding that Nigerian nationals were among the injured.
