House of Representatives sets up Committee to Probe MDAs

The House of Representatives has resolved to set up a committee to probe Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, over illegal charges imposed on contractors.

This followed a motion adopted by Kpam Sokpo, on the need to investigate alleged unlawful administrative charges and levies imposed by MDAs.

Sokpo maintained that apart from these lawful taxes, MDAs allegedly impose unlawful administrative charges, levies ranging from 5 to 25 per cent of contract sum on contractors.

The House directed the committee to report back to the House within 12 weeks for further legislative actions.
