State governor drags Federal government to Court

The state governors have sued the Federal Government over its alleged failure to remit funds generated from stamp duties into the state accounts.

In a suit filed before the Supreme Court yesterday, they asked the court to determine whether or not they are the sole authority to administer and collect stamp duties on all transactions involving individuals and persons within their respective states.

The Supreme Court is yet to fix a date for the matter to be heard.
