Ondo State government has arrested 15 persons alleged to be operating private hospitals below the required standard in the state.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Folukemi Aladenola, who disclosed this in Akure, the state capital, said the arrest became necessary towards sanitizing the health sector of the state against quackery.
Aladenola disclosed that the affected hospitals have been sealed off by the ministry, noting that the suspects were accused of operating unethically and violating the stipulated rules and regulations guiding the operation of health facilities in the state.
However, the Head of the monitoring team and Director, Hospital Services in the Ministry of Health, Ayodele Adelusi, said all the affected facilities will not be re-opened until the necessary requirements were met.
