Iran’s Health Ministry has confirmed the first case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country.
A ministry official who disclosed this on Sunday said the variant was detected in a middle-aged Iranian man who had recently travelled back from neighbouring United Arab Emirates.
The official revealed that the ministry is also monitoring two more suspected cases.
The Health Official warned of severe consequences for Iran if health protocols are not observed.
