Former Manchester United footballer, Ryan Giggs has gone on trial on charges of coercively controlling his ex-girlfriend, Kate Greville.
Giggs pleaded not guilty to the charges, which carry a maximum jail term of five years.
The jury trial at a crown court in Manchester was presided over by Judge Hilary Manley, and the trial is expected to last two weeks but could overrun.
The United player is charged with assaulting Greville, and causing her bodily harm on November 1, 2020.
