The Divine Mandate Movement in strong terms refutes reports alleging that the Director General, Divine Mandate Movement, DMM, Hon Ngozi Ogbu and Evang Myke Ikoku invaded the Imo state PDP Secretariat, Owerri, beating up the chairman of the party, Engr Charles Ugwuh.
There have been reports circulating in the media and on the internet allegedly on the invasion of the Imo PDP state Chairman’s Office. The report claimed that the state chairman was beaten up by thugs attached to the Director General, Divine Mandate Movement, Ngozi Ogbu in company of Evang Myke Ikoku.
We would have ignored the petty allegations but for purposes of clarity and in a bid to disabuse the mind of the unsuspecting public, hence, the need for this release.
The Divine Mandate Movement, DMM had in good authority, activities of the Engr Charles Ugwuh led exco periodically convening meetings where they mandated and threatened party candidates in the recently concluded party primaries and hierarchy of the party across the Wards and LGAs, particularly in Okigwe zone to support their choice Guber candidate, threatening them with expulsion notice if they refused to comply with their directives.
The leadership of Divine Mandate Movement after several deliberations on the impunity ravaging the party, initiated a visit to the State Party Secretariat, Owerri to seek audience with the leadership of the party, reminding them of their continued balkanization in the party coupled with their sinister moves to poach elected officers and leadership of the party across the LGAs in the zone urging them to declare their support for their preferred governorship candidate.
The allegation of invasion and beating up the chairman of the party, Engr Charles Ugwuh is not only petty but targeted at inciting crisis in the party in a bid to seek sympathy from members of the party who are now aware of their desperate moves.
The Divine Mandate Movement, hereby challenge the Imo state PDP through the office of the chairman to issue an official statement to confirm if he was beaten up as claimed and his office invaded at the party secretariat by thugs linked to Hon Ngozi Ogbu to ascertain if truly such act transpired.
We hereby, seize this opportunity to inform the public that the trending reports in the social media was syndicated by false alarmists. We also urge our party members to remain calm and disregard the false reports sponsored by mischief makers.
Imo state PDP remain a formidable party to beat in the state and by the grace of God, we shall reclaim the governorship seat in the forthcoming general election.
