The remand of Olu Agunloye, the former Minister of Power and Steel, in Kuje jail has been ordered by the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Trial Judge Donatus Okorowo confined him to the Kuje Correctional Center after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) docketed him for his purported involvement in fraud.
The accused, who had previously held the position of Minister of State for Defense, entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
He was ordered to stay in detention by the court while his bail application was being processed.
Recall that between 1999 and 2003, President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration ran a $6 billion power scheme involving the Mambilla hydropower project, for which the EFCC declared Agunloye wanted.
