Still in Abia , Butchers in Umuahia over the weekend have protested plans by Abia State government and its agents to evacuate them from their abattoir in Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state.
the butchers, who where seen carrying placards with different inscriptions that reflected their grievances, marched through the streets of Umuahia to the Government House, where they laid down their agitation before the Chief Security Officer to the Governor Ken Nwosu.
Speaking on behalf of the butchers, Ngozi Williams who is the President of the butchers, revealed Some persons, in collaboration with the host community and some government officials, sent them out, asking them to relocate to Umunneochi.
Addressing them, the CSO to the state governor, Nwosu, who commended the protesters for their peaceful disposition in their protest , further assured them that the state government will immediately look into the matter.
