Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has criticized the Southern Governors’ Forum over their resolution that supports states’ collection of Value Added Tax, VAT.
Umahi, maintained that the resolution of the Forum does not reflect his stand on the issue, adding that the state will not pursue VAT collection or implement the decision of the Forum.
The Governor stressed that a number of states would collapse if VAT collection moves from the federal to the sub nationals.
Recall that Southern Governors’ Forum led by Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, said the forum resolved to support the position that the collection of VAT falls within the powers of the states.
