The Cross River State chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Ogar Osim, has been suspended from office due to allegations of embezzlement, anti-party activities, and other issues, including the inability to maintain a state secretariat.
The state secretary, Felix Etim, has also been suspended and the suspension was announced in a press statement by the Chairman and Secretary of the State Disciplinary Committee, Bonnie Adie and Ibiang Igri.
Eugene Obia and Allen Ekpe have been appointed as acting Chairman and Secretary, respectively, until a congress can be held to elect permanent replacements.
The decision followed an investigation into allegations of gross misconduct and other serious matters and the statement expressed confidence in the new acting leaders and called for cooperation from all party members.
