Israeli forces have expanded their ground operations into central Deir el-Balah, an area that had previously been spared from intense fighting, further confining Palestinians to just 11 percent of the Gaza Strip.
In southern Gaza, Israeli forces have wounded a Palestinian journalist covering the growing conflict in Khan Younis, meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in Tel Aviv for his ninth visit since October 7.
Speaking before a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Blinken described this as a decisive moment to secure a ceasefire with Hamas and facilitate the return of captives.
This visit comes as Israel continues to assert its intention to maintain a presence in the Philadelphi Corridor, the border area between Gaza and Egypt, a key issue in the ongoing ceasefire talks.
So far, at least 40,099 people have been killed and 92,609 injured in Israel’s war on Gaza, and 1,139 people were killed in the Hamas-led attacks, with over 200 people taken captive.
