The Nigerian Army says a senior officer and three soldiers have been killed in a fierce encounter with Islamic State’s West Africa Province, ISWAP, terrorists.
A statement signed by the Army Spokesman, Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed that the encounter took place in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
The statement maintained that despite the notable losses, the military was able to destroy some ISWAP jets and gun trucks.
It noted that the Chief of Army Staff, Faruok Yahaya deeply commiserates with the families and relations of the fallen heroes and directed that the troops continue in the ferocious counter offensive and hot pursuit to eliminate the remnant of the fleeing terrorists.
