Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Muktar Batera, says the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Yakubu Mahmood, has met with the Committee on the indirect primaries.
While briefing newsmen after the meeting in Abuja, Batera revealed that the lawmakers discussed the cost of direct primaries.
He noted that Mahmood informed the lawmakers that political parties have the responsibility of funding the primaries.
Meanwhile, the INEC Chairman noted that the commission is yet to determine the cost of direct primaries, noting that a letter has been sent to President Muhammadu Buhari on the recommendation on direct primaries.
