The Nigerian Union of Pensioners has called for sanctions on state governors who fail to pay the pension and gratuity of retirees in the country.
The National President of NUP, Godwin Abumisi, made this disclosure to newsmen during the Pensioners’ Day Celebration held at the Labour House in Abuja.
The union president urged the National Assembly to pass a law that would compel governors to pay pensions as and when due.
The union leader also berated the governors for acting like emperors, noting that they had made lives unbearable for citizens.
