Abia Police dismisses officer over rape allegation

Abia state Police Command has dismissed an officer, Chinedu Nwachukwu, who was accused of raping a female student of the Abia State Polytechnic Aba.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Geoffrey Ogbonna, disclosed that after an orderly room trial in Umuahia, the police corporal was found guilty of raping the female student.

Ogbonna said Nwachukwu is expected to stand trial in a regular court for rape, extortion and other offences.

Recall that the State Police Command had assured that justice must prevail in the case of a student who was allegedly raped by a police officer attached to its Rapid Response Squad.
