The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it is unable to remove the names of dead persons from the voter register.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, revealed that the commission could not remove names randomly due to the absence of reliable data of births.
Okoye noted that a faulty register could affect the credibility of the elections as well as make the commission incur unnecessary costs.
The Chairman added that Nigeria may go into the 2023 general elections with a faulty voter register.
