Federal Government approves N34billion wage arrears for University Workers

The Federal Government says it will spend about N34 billion as arrears of Minimum Wage Consequential Adjustments in the Education Sector effective from 2019.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige made this known while speaking with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Ngige, this was aimed at resolving the lingering crisis in the educator sector.

The Minister, therefore, appealed to Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and other University-Based Unions to suspend their strike to allow resumption of academic activities in Public Universities across the Country.
