Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has ordered the arrest of a former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole for allegedly mobilizing thugs to vandalize banks in the state over the naira scarcity.
The State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, called on security agencies to arrest Oshiomhole for questioning.
The Commissioner accused the opposition party in the State of being responsible for the protest.
Protests had rocked many parts of Nigeria over the lack of the naira notes, with three people reportedly killed in Benin City during violent demonstrations.
